Tobias Schwecht

Wayne Lam and Tobias Schwecht got involved in a heated hand when the dealer peeled the turn 6 9 5 T .

After Lam checked, Schwecht fired an enormous overbet of 206,500 into a pot of only 50,000. Lam called to see the 3 fall on the river. He checked again, and Schwecht bet 310,000 this time.

Lam looked uncomfortable but was not ready to surrender the hand. He stacked 310,000 chips aside and slid a time bank to the dealer for an extra 30 seconds of thought.

He eventually called, only to face the unpleasant surprise when Schwecht revealed 7 8 . The German player had flopped a straight and calmly executed his plan to scoop the massive pot, worth over one million in chips.

Hrabec Ends Steinbrenner’s Run

posted by Life of Poker - Dimitri

Level 17: Blinds 6K / 12K - Ante 12K

Justin Steinbrenner.jpg Justin Steinbrenner

Barely arrived at his new table, the Roman Hrabec hurricane had already struck, and Justin Steinbrenner saw his entire stack get wiped out.

Sitting behind a seven-figure stack, Hrabec could afford to call preflop shoves without necessarily holding a premium hand. And that was exactly the luxury he allowed himself against Steinbrenner.

Justin Steinbrenner: A T

Roman Hrabec: Q J

The hierarchy of starting hands held… but only for a few seconds.

The Board: A T J K 2

The first two board cards gave Steinbrenner two pair, although he was still far from safe. When a king rolled off on the turn, Commander Hrabec completed his straight and sent Steinbrenner overboard.

Steinbrenner’s tournament ends here, while the Hrabec cruise continues.
