TAIPEI, TAIWAN, November 28, 2025 – Even with the Main Event wrapping up the APT Championship is proving it still has plenty of juice left in the tank, with the three-day TWD 466,000 (~USD 14,935) High Roller Championship generating the tour’s richest-ever non-Main Event prize pool of all time.

The last of the festival’s 20 Championship Events to award the one of the three exclusive Rose Gold Lion APT Championship Trophies attracted an all-star field.

Day 2 saw the tournament restart on level 11 at 11:15am (TST) and with late registration available until the start of level 12, the 52 Day 1 survivors out of an initial 108 entries were joined by a further 65 high-rolling entries, bringing the total field up to 173 entries (119 unique).

Ten-time bracelet winner Erik Seidel, All Time Money List #15 Steve O’Dwyer, China All Time Money List #2 Biao Ding, Germany’s Daniel Smiljkovic, and Filipino bracelet winner Mike Takayama were just some of the players to jump in before registration closed.

This generated the second-largest prize pool of the festival, with a substantial TWD 75,782,176 (~USD 2,428,915) in the purse, with the top 23 places paying out and a min-cash good for TWD 879,100 (~USD 28,175).

In addition to the title, trophy and all the accolades for winning the inaugural event, the eventual champion will bank a spectacular TWD 17,618,976 (~USD 564,710) top prize – the second largest non-Main Event first place prize of the New Era, and fifth-largest APT top prize of all time.

Several high profile players hit the rail before the money bubble, with Seidel, O’Dwyer, Super High Roller Championship winner Roman Hrabec, Ding, Smiljkovic, and Hong Kong’s #1 ranked tournament player Danny Tang all exiting empty handed.

The money bubble was reached and breached an hour after the dinner break midway through level 19 with the departure of Denmark's Johan Schultz-Pedersen at the hands of Austria’s Gerald Karlic guaranteeing the remaining field a cash finish.

At the conclusion of the ten 60-minute levels played, just 12 players remain in the running, with Japan’s #2 ranked tournament player Jun Obara leading the charge for fortune and glory after bagging up a 2,950,000 stack – valued at 74 big blinds when play resumes.

Ireland’s Toby Joyce (2,645,000), and bubble-burster Gerald Karlic (2,345,000) round out the top three stacks.

Austria’s Samuel Mullur (1,910,000), Super High Roller Championship runner-up Alex Wice (1,045,000), and former Main Event champion and Thailand #1 Punnat Punsri (855,000) all remain in contention.

The inaugural TWD 30,000 (~USD 960) [Event 14] Teams Championship got underway at 4pm on Thursday, November 28 drawing 124 total entries split into 62 teams of two.

While this event is one of the more fun formats on the schedule, there was still a TWD 3,214,080 (~USD 103,015) prize pool on the line, and not one, but TWO exclusive Pewter Lion APT Championship trophies up for grabs for the winning player and their partner.

In addition to swapping stacks every level, team mates still had a chance to play their way into the paying positions even if they busted as they would then take turns at piloting their partner’s stack.

The eventual champions would each receive a top prize of TWD 374,782 (~USD 12,010) apiece, with the top nine positions paying out and earning their respective partners the same cash prize.

The last complete team of two left standing would also earn themselves twenty percent of the prize pool split two ways—a payout of TWD 321,408 (~USD 10,300) each—which encouraged a great deal of good natured competition as players jockeyed for a place in the paying positions.

Only 49 players would survive the carnage of the twelve 40-minute Day 1 levels played, with 11 teams of two still in contention for the last team standing bounty coming into the Final Day.

It was Singapore’s Eugene Zhou and Malaysia’s Ken Thoo who claimed the accolades, defeating final bosses Dicky Tsang and Sparrow Cheung* heads-up to take the inaugural Teams Championship title and the top prize.

Tsang and Cheung collected TWD 270,000 (~USD 8,655) each, with Natural8 Ambassador Kitty Kuo and partner Frankie Cucchiara rounding out the top three, earning TWD 175,500 (~USD 5,625) each for third place.

Taiwan’s Chao Chiuan Lin and Yung Chun Wang were the last team standing, both making the final table and finishing in seventh and ninth respectively to collect three separate payouts each – TWD 63,000 (~USD 2,020) for seventh, TWD 38,550 (~USD 1,235) for ninth, and the last team standing bonus.
