TAIPEI, TAIWAN, November 21, 2025 – Run in partnership with the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Club (CTP), and playing out at the tournament tables of the cavernous Red Space 多元商務空間, the APT Championship 2025 continues to raise the bar, with all three of Friday’s scheduled Championship Events breaking APT records.

Day 1 of the Super High Roller Championship attracted the APT’s largest-ever field for a USD 25,000 buy-in tournament, while the Mixed Game Championship and the APT Women’s Championship – Sponsored by LIPS both set new tour prize pool records for an APT Mixed Game tournament and Women’s Event respectively.

If that’s not enough to get the blood flowing, there was also Day 3 of the inaugural TWD 93,000 (~USD 3,000) [Event 6] Natural8 Cup Championship Freezeout, with players pulling out all the stops to reach the final table.

Just 71 players out of an initial 490-entry field returned for the penultimate Day 3, all guaranteed a TWD 148,400 (~USD 4,790) payout from the TWD 39,372,480 (~USD 1,270,080) prize pool.

However, no one was playing for a min-cash, and all returning players had their eyes firmly on the TWD 7,538,480 (~USD 243,180) top prize, which includes a TWD 311,000 (USD 10,000) APT Championship Main Event seat, and awards one of the festival’s exclusive Pewter Lion APT Championship Trophies.

While it was Akshay Nasa returning with the chip lead for the second time in an APT Championship Event this festival, the Indian player ran out of fuel and had to abort mission before the final table, exiting in 23rd place.

After close to nine 60-minute levels, it was the Netherlands’ Rob Hollink who summited the tournament leaderboard, bagging up a chip-leading stack of 3,555,000 – valued at 59 big blinds when the Final Day action resumes.

Christopher Mateo.jpg The Philippines’ Christopher Mateo will be returning second in the counts

Former APT Manila Main Event champion Christopher “Big Time” Mateo sits right behind Hollink in the counts, concluding the action with 3,400,000 in chips – valued at 57 big blinds.

While Hollink and Mateo were the only two players to crack three million in chips, it was the last of the three podium placed players Kitty Kuo who concluded the Day 3 action.

The Natural8 Ambassador and former APT Taipei 2021 Main Event champion sent South Korea’s Dohang Na to the rail in tenth with a flopped set of fives to set up the final table and bag up a stack of 2,570,000 – valued at 43 big blinds.

New Zealand’s Jon Rounce-Sue (1,940,000) made his second APT Championship final table of the series and will be looking to improve on his third place finish in that event.

Romania’s Adrian State is making his first APT final table in style. State lost a huge flip against Kuo two tables out to find himself with just two big blinds, but battled back to bag the sixth biggest stack of 1,900,000 (32 big blinds).

Conversely, seasoned APT regular and former APT Super High Roller champion Julian Warhurst is making a fifth APT final table appearance, and the Australian player will be bringing in the shortest stack of 1,240,000 – valued at 21 big blinds.

Super High Roller Championship Draws Largest USD 25K Field in APT History with Registration Still Open; Roman Hrabec Tops Day 1

Roman Hrabec.jpg The Czech Republic’s Roman Hrabec leads APT’s largest USD 25K buy-in tournament

The three-day TWD 777,000 (~USD 24,900) [Event 7] Super High Roller Championship is the priciest of the APT Championship Events to play out so far, but that did not stop it from breaking the APT record for most entries for a USD 25K tournament.

The tournament drew 54 entries, and with late registration remaining open until the start of level 12 at 12:30pm local time (TST), this figure is set to climb higher.

The action got underway at 12pm sharp, with early entries including APT All-Time Money winner Joseph Cheong, Austria’s Samuel Mullur, Germany’s Hannes Jeschka, and the Czech Republic’s Roman Hrabec.

While things did not work out for Muller, for Hrabec, it would seem that the early bird does catch the worm with the Czech player moving his way up the pecking order and into the end of day chip lead, bagging up a stack of 1,828,000 at the conclusion of the ten 60-minute levels played.

Hrabec has over USD 12 million in live tournament cashes on his resume, including four APT final tables, but so far an APT title has eluded him – something the Czech crusher will be looking to remedy this tournament.

For the second time in this series, two-time APT Main Event champion Lester Edoc bagged the second largest stack in a Championship Event, fighting his way through a star-studded field to conclude the action with 1,488,000.

France’s Axel Hallay (1,479,500) rounded out the top three, and was the only other player to bag a seven-figure stack.

The top ten is packed with talent with Taiwan’s Poseidon Ho (981,500), Malaysia’s Wai Kiat Lee (961,000), New Zealand’s Vincent Huang (921,000), the aforementioned Jeschka (629,500), and China All-Time Money List #2 Bao Ding (576,500) all flush with chips.

A total of 21 players made it through to Day 2, but with the tournament offering competitors a double re-entry, several of the players who hit the rail on Day 1 are likely to take a second, or indeed third, bite of the cherry.

Cheong (508,500) narrowly missed out on making the top ten, while other notables still in the running include Natural8 Ambassador Chih Wei Fan (249,000), Superstar Challenge champion Danny Tang (225,000), and ten-time bracelet winner and Poker Hall of Famer Erik Seidel (205,000).

Mixed Game Championship Sets New APT Prize Pool Record; Jeffrey Lo Finishes on a High with Day 1 Chip Lead

1 Day 1 chip leader Jeffrey Lo 2.JPG Hong Kong’s Jeffrey Lo leads Day 1 of the Mixed Game Championship

Getting underway at 3pm local time (TST) the TWD 70,000 (~USD 2,245) [Event 8] Mixed Game Championship - 9 Game was another record-breaker.

The tournament drew a 65-entry (54 unique) field to generate a TWD 3,931,200 (~USD 126,810) prize pool to set a new tour record, making it the richest mixed game tournament in APT history.

In addition to the exclusive Pewter Lion APT Championship Trophy, the eventual champion will claim the richest mixed game top prize the APT has ever awarded with the tournament paying out a TWD 1,146,000 (~USD 36,730) winner’s purse.

The top nine places will make the paying positions, with a min-cash good for TWD 117,900 (~USD 3,780).

The field was filled with fans of the more obscure poker variants, with five-time bracelet winner Bradley Ruben, APT Mixed Game Masters titlist Hal Rotholz, ten-time APT mixed game champion Mark Furniss, and six-time APT titlist Qibang “James” Cheung just some of the mixed game maestros in the running.

While Ruben did not make the cut for the Final Day, Cheung, Rotholz, and Furniss did, with Cheung (268,000) and Rotholz (257,000) bagging the second and third biggest stacks respectively.

However, it is Hong Kong’s Jeffrey Lo who finished Day 1 on a high with the overnight chip lead. Lo, who holds an APT title in 2-7 & Badugi Triple Draw, closed out the thirteen 40-minute levels played with a 288,500 stack.

Australia’s Liam Jehu (235,000) bagged the fifth biggest stack, and Natural8 Ambassador Sparrow Cheung also had a good day at the tables, bagging a top ten stack of 229,500.

A total of 19 players made it through to the Final Day, with Furniss still in contention for a record 11th APT mixed game title, although the Aussie will be returning as one of the shorter stacks with 95,000 in chips.

01CHIPLEADER.jpg Japan’s Ohta Ami is aiming for a third APT title in the tour’s richest women’s event

The last of the three record-breaking Championship Events to play out was the TWD 35,000 (~USD 1,120) [Event 9] APT Women’s Championship – Sponsored by LIPS, which attracted 119 entries (88 unique).

While this did not break the current record for an APT women’s event from a field size perspective—with the 143 entry Women’s Event at APT Taipei 2023 still holding—it did generate the tour’s richest women’s event prize pool of TWD 3,598,560 (~USD 115,340).

In addition to the exclusive Pewter Lion APT Championship Trophy, the eventual champion will claim the largest first place prize ever awarded in an APT women’s event and take home TWD 905,160 (~USD 29,010).

The top 17 places will make the paying positions, with a min-cash coming in at TWD 56,500 (~USD 1,810).
