The APT Women's Championship, sponsored by LIPS (Ladies International Poker Series), took its turn on the floor at Red Space in Taipei City, bringing in a vibrant mix of female players from all over the region and beyond. The ladies weren’t just ready to display their poker skills, they arrived expressing individuality, style, and presence in a field that carried equal parts glamour and grit.

From bold fashion choices to cool table composure, the room buzzed with personality. A total of 119 entries (88 unique) graced the felt across ten levels of late registration, generating a prize pool of TWD 3,598,560 (~USD 115,340). By the end of twelve 40-minute levels, only 48 players remained in contention for the title and the coveted APT Pewter Lion Trophy.

Closing out the day at the top of the leaderboard was Japan's Ohta Ami with 352,600 in chips. A two-time APT Jeju Women's High Roller champion, Ami proved once again why she is one of the most formidable players in the field. Her late-game surge included a double knockout to firmly establish herself as the frontrunner going into the final day.

Hot on her heels was Taiwan's Yu Han Su with 326,900 in chips. Su steadily climbed throughout the day that when the last seven hands was called, she was the player to catch. Bagging up the third largest stack was another local player, Yi-Jhen Ke, with 306,000 in chips. Late in the day, Ke picked up a substantial portion of Chien-Chih Weng's stack with a small blind special hand.

Other notable players still in the race were WSOP bracelet winners Shiina Okamoto and Jiyoung Kim. For the latter, she maintained a healthy stack all day, ultimately bagging 192,100 in chips for a top-ten finish. As for Okamoto, she had a quieter day at the felt but her presence alone was already a force to reckon with. She closed the day with 71,400 in chips.

A few spots down the rung from Okamoto was Sofia Lovgren who crushed the APT Mystery Bounty Championship earlier in the week. Lovgren shipped an exciting three-way to help build up her stack to 67,900. Also finding a bag were Rosalie Petit, Monika Zukowicz, Natalie Teh, and APT host Elfin Lin.

During one of the last hands of the day, Tsz Man Li open-shoved for 20,900 and ran right into Yun Chen Chang's cowboys.

Tsz Man Li: A J

Yun Chen Chang: K K

With an ace on hand there was hope, however what showed up on the flop was her lower card J 2 T .

The K turn widened Chang's lead with a set but Li still had outs for the straight.

The river did not deliver, instead a 7 landed on the board to send her to the rail.

Tong Lin Shen’s pre-flop raise to 4,000 in middle position was limp-called by Jia Lin Luo in early position.

The flop came 3 J 4 .

Luo took the initiative with a donk bet of 5,000, which Shen called.

Both players then checked the turn J .

The dealer completed the board with the 3 on the river.

Luo checked, Shen bet 8,000, and Luo called to see the showdown.

Tong Lin Shen: Q J

Jia Lin Luo: A K

Unfortunately for Luo, Shen had flopped a pair of jacks and had improved to a full house by the river.

No reason for Luo to complain at the end of Day 1 however as she bags one of the biggest stacks in the tournament.

Another wild hand was tabled with Ai Tsuchiya and her rail celebrating her lucky stars. The hand started off with a raise from the button player Yotaka Phutiya then big blind Tsuchiya jammed her last 20,100 stack. It was a no-brainer for Phutiya who snap-called with aces.

Ai Tsuchiya: K Q

Yotaka Phutiya: A A

With plenty of support behind her, the flop opened a window of hope when it felted 5 A J however Phutiya was far ahead with a set.

The turn Q changed nothing while the river T was magic for Tsuchiya, as she completed a straight to crack aces and stay in the game.

Yu Lun Huang made a perfect read to ultimately knock out Chu Ling Hsu.

The hand opened with a raise from Hsu on the button who then called small blind Huang's 14,000 three-bet. This took them to a flop that landed 9 6 Q where action intensified starting with a continuation bet from Huang that Hsu challenged with an all-in shove for 28,500.

This sent Huang deep in the tank, using up her last two time-banks, then called just before the buzzer. As soon as Hsu revealed, Huang was ecstatic as she flipped open her hole cards.

Chu Ling Hsu: T 8

Yu Lun Huang: A 7

To everyone's shock, both players had air with Huang ahead with her ace while Hsu had a gutshot draw. The turn K changed nothing, and neither did the river Q for Huang to win it and jump in celebration.

The dealer revealed a flop 3 2 8 .

Yu Jou Tsai check-called Xiang Ling Feng’s bet of 5,000.

The action repeated on the turn 7 . Tsai checked, Feng bet 10,000, and Tsai called to see the river.

The river was the K and both players checked to showdown.

Yu Jou Tsai: K 8

Xiang Ling Feng: A 8

Shaken and disappointed by the unfavourable river, Feng could have mucked her cards, but she revealed them anyway to show she had held a strong position for most of the hand.

Tsai scooped the pot with two pair and caught up to Feng’s stack.

A big pot of 25,000 had already been built by the time the turn was dealt for a board to show 2 4 9 K .

Out of the big blind, Yi-Jhen Ke bet dropped 10,000 and Chien-Chih "Maggie" Weng called. The river completed the board with a 2 and again, Ke dipped in her stack and pulled out four blues amounting to 20,000.

This sent Weng tanking until she burned through two of them and called. Ke had the goods, turning over 5 2 trips. Weng mucked.

Three-way action kicked off with a raise from Hua-Wei Lin in the hijack that found one customer in Ohta Ami in the cutoff. Next door neighbor Aiischa Fox three-bet to make it 12,000 to continue, which didn't cause a scare as both players quickly called.

At the flop of 2 3 7 , the two players checked before Fox continued for 15,000, that only Ami called for heads-up to the turn.

The turn was the A and Ami checked again. Fox laid out another 15,000 but Ami pushed all-in.

Fox was covered many times over and gave it some thought, but didn't waste too much time deciding on preserving her chips.

In a battle of the blinds, both players stared down a board of 4 K 6 K T and a 24,700 pot. Small blind Ka Ki Peng checked and big blind Greta Cimbole attempted to steal with a bet of 15,000.

Peng assessed the board and eventually opted to call then waited for Cimbole to show. Instead Cimbole tossed it in the muck for Peng to claim the pot without a showdown.
